mag emoji What is an IDU?

An IDU (Unique Identifier) is a number required in some countries to prove that the seller complies with local rules regarding recycling, packaging, or the environment.

This number is often linked to a system called Extended Producer Responsibility (REP / EPR).

bust_in_silhouette emoji Am I affected?

You are affected if:

  • You are the official seller (the one billing the end customer),

  • You sell packaged products to customers located in other countries,

  • And those countries require sellers to register.

Even if TPOP ships the products for you, you remain legally responsible.

earth_africa emoji Do I need to register in every country?

In most cases, yes.
Each country in the European Union (and beyond) has its own rules.
There is no unified system or single number valid everywhere.

You will generally need to:

  • Register with the official organization of the relevant country,

  • Obtain an identifier,

  • Declare it if requested by a marketplace or an authority.
